Mo te tunga | About the role
We're looking for a passionate educator to join our team in an academic delivery role, teaching Te Tiriti o Waitangi within our education programmes. You'll oversee curriculum across initial teacher education, ECE degree and diploma programmes, delivered through our online platform. In addition, you'll provide valuable in-person support to konga during their practicum placements and noho marae-based learning experiences, helping them grow and succeed in their educational journey.
Reporting to the Programme Delivery Manager, you will be joining a collaborative team of Academic Staff Members who teach across the Bachelor of Teaching (Primary Education) and the Graduate Diplomas in Teaching (Primary and Secondary), contributing to a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
This role is based from our Lower Hutt campus.
As an Academic Staff Member, you will:
- Deliver courses in the Open Distance Flexible Learning (ODFL) modality, using interactive technologies and adhering to best practice standards for online learning.
- Act as a curriculum advisor, providing feedback on course materials and assessments to ensure quality and relevance.
- Employ innovative technologies and interactive teaching strategies to effectively facilitate konga learning.
- Offer targeted, subject-specific support to konga to deepen their understanding and academic success.
- Collaborate within a dynamic team environment, working alongside contracted markers, student mentors, and fellow teaching staff.
- Provide feedback to Programme Delivery Managers on course and programme delivery to support continuous improvement.

- A background in education, with experience mentoring teachers
- Knowledge of M tauranga M ori, a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and some proficiency in Te Reo me ona tikanga M ori
- A current Teaching Council practising certificate
- A relevant postgraduate qualification at Level 8 or above
- High-level skills in using computer-based applications
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong judgement, flexibility, self-motivation, and responsiveness
