About the role | Ko te mahi nei
As the Active Communities Coordinator, you will:
- Serve communities by contributing to initiatives that drive partnerships, community connectivity and collaboration, with the aim to increase physical activity levels within priority populations. This could be within the Recreation centres or out in the community.
- Be part of a team that works proactively to reduce barriers to participation in active recreation and is responsive to the needs of the community.
- Assist the unit and the community to obtain community views that remove barriers to participation and help design/co-design and develop accessible, inclusive and diverse programmes and services across multiple spaces and places.
- Connect communities to existing active recreation, sport and play opportunities and share knowledge and advice, promoting awareness of resources, programmes and services. This could be by supporting RSE at events or assisting in the creation and distribution of resources.

To be successful in this position you will:
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with a proven ability to engage and build meaningful relationships with community groups.
- Possess strong administrative and organisational skills to effectively support team operations, contribute to programme development, and ensure the smooth delivery of projects.
- Be self-motivated, service-driven, highly organised and driven by a genuine passion for making a positive impact.
- Ideally bring a minimum of least 2 years' experience in the health promotion, community development, sport and recreation, business or local government area, e.g., community focussed role, or role with interaction across diverse communities.
- Hold at least a Level 5 Diploma in a health promotion, community development or recreation qualification (or related qualification).

- Hours of work - 40 hours Monday to Friday, occasional out of hours work, as and when required.

- Location - This position is primarily based at Pioneer Recreation and Sports Centre, 75 Lyttelton Street, Christchurch
- Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $74,394 to $82,660 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
