Mahi Haumaru WorkSafe's Policy and Regulations team is a high performing team within the Insights and Engagement Group. Our vision is to lead regulatory thinking, delivering innovative and effective solutions for all our stakeholders.
The team makes a visible impact on Aotearoa New Zealand's work health and safety performance by helping Mahi Haumaru WorkSafe decide how we should operate to meet our legislative obligations, be the kind of regulator we want to be, and exercise our regulatory functions.
About the role / O te turanga
Advisors in our team work across the business to:
- Design and develop policy products and inter-organisational agreements.
- Provide high-quality and timely policy and regulatory and support across Worksafe Mahi Haumaru.
- Explore new ideas.
- Unpick problems; identify and mitigate risks and unintended consequences; analyse options and recommend solutions.
- Ensure solutions align with our regulatory approach, legislation, and strategic direction.
- Provide advice and represent Worksafe Mahi Haumaru's interests to external agencies on health and safety, energy safety, and other legislation and policy.
What You'll Do/ Ko tou ake mahi
- Deliver accurate, timely, and innovative policy advice that aligns with WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's strategic direction, supports risk management, and contributes to developing it as a modern, insights-led regulator.
- Define and assess complex problems clearly, evaluate options and impacts critically, and recommend practical, creative solutions that challenge conventional approaches.
- Communicate clearly and persuasively across all settings, produce high-quality written material, and constructively engage stakeholders to gain support for ideas and solutions.
- Build collaborative, trust-based relationships, promote knowledge sharing, and represent WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's interests effectively in both internal and external settings.
- Manage projects efficiently by setting clear goals, organising work to match complexity, overcoming barriers, and ensuring timely delivery.

Salary range / Awhe utu
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $ $80,037 to $105,342, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $80,037 to $88,471. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
