Position Title: Machine Operator
Salary Range: $25.00–$30.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Minimum Guaranteed Hours of Work: 30–40 hours per week

Sanger Smart Agriculture is an innovative agribusiness dedicated to delivering high-quality agricultural solutions using state-of-the-art machinery and technology. We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Operator to support the operation, maintenance, and performance of our agricultural equipment to ensure efficient and sustainable farming practices.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in machine operation within the agricultural or related industry; or
- A relevant Level 3 qualification or higher (e.g., NZQF Certificate in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery.
- Proven experience operating tractors, harvesters, seeders, sprayers, and other agricultural equipment.
- Good understanding of safe work practices and occupational health and safety requirements in farming.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
- Physical fitness to undertake manual work and operate equipment in varying conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate agricultural machinery, including tractors, harvesters, sprayers, and seeders, to carry out crop planting, maintenance, and harvesting.
- Conduct daily pre-start checks, monitor machine performance, and report any defects or issues promptly.
- Perform basic repairs, cleaning, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal machine operation.
- Accurately follow planting, spraying, and harvesting schedules to meet production requirements.
- Maintain accurate logs of work performed, machine usage, and any incidents.
- Comply with all health and safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
- Assist with general farm duties when required to support overall operations.
