Arborist

Applicant must have:

• 2 years relevant experience; or
• Tertiary education
• Driver's license

Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.

Purpose of the position:

To carry out a wide range of tree work relating to the maintenance, management and removal of trees with confidence and to a high standard.
Interpret and ensure job requirements are met on time and to standard.

Role Duties:

• Run sites safely and efficiently as required, completing hazard ID documents and interpreting job descriptions
• Communicate with clients/customers as required to discuss their tree work requirements
• Be competent in a full range of tree work including pruning, felling, hedging, stump grinding etc safely and efficiently
• Utilize machinery, equipment and hand tools safely and in accordance with relevant arboricultural operations
• Maintain all machinery and equipment in connection with work in a clean and safe condition
• Inspect PPE and climbing equipment regularly
• Ensure work is carried out effectively to achieve quality and financial objectives, ensuring safety to all members of staff and public at all times
• Clean and maintain work shop and yard, including machinery and tools as required
• Undertake tree work outside normal working hours as an when required
• Put out and collect road signs and cones as and when required, safely in accordance with relevant codes of practice
• Drive vehicles safely and lawfully
• Complete daily job records

Skills/Qualifications:

Able to:

• Safely and efficiently carry out tree work in a competent manner to job specification/instruction to reconcognised Arboricultural Standards
• Read and interpret job descriptions and specifications
• Competently climb and prune/remove trees safely and efficiently
• Safely operate and use a brush chipper
• Safely operate and use a chainsaw
• Safely operate a stump grinder
• Tie, dress and set knots used in modern Arboricultural operations including, bowline, alpine butterfly, sheet bend etc
• Maintain a range of equipment used in tree work including; chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders
