The Resource Recovery team are responsible for a range of waste management and minimisation service contracts and associated infrastructure, including over 500,000 kerbside collections, four transfer stations, and over 150 closed landfill management sites.
The asset portfolio for Resource Recovery is wide ranging. Management of the asset portfolio, whilst a Council responsibility, is reliant on strong contract management and professional relationships.

We're looking for a proactive and detail-driven Asset Planner to lead the development and management of our Resource Recovery asset management systems and processes in a two year fixed term capacity. This role is key to ensuring our assets are well-maintained, strategically planned, and aligned with Council objectives. You'll work closely with internal teams, contractors, and Council stakeholders to deliver high-quality asset data, insights, and support. In this role you will:

Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $105,450 to $117,167 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.

- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Resource Recovery asset management system and associated processes.
- Facilitate the collection and analysis of condition assessments for Resource Recovery assets.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely asset information and reporting to the Resource Recovery team, contractors, and Council.
- Contribute to the development and regular updating of Council Asset Management Plans and documentation.

Offer technical advice and support on asset management practices to the wider Resource Recovery team.
Skills
We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of asset management principles and lifecycle planning, as well as excellent communication and reporting skills with the ability to translate technical data into actionable insights. You'll bring with you:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Asset Management, or construction
- 7+ years of experience in asset planning or infrastructure management
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices in asset management
