Are you ready to contribute to multi discipline projects across Aotearoa?
Aurecon is seeking an experienced Associate / Senior Associate Civil Engineer to join our Land Infrastructure Team in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington, someone who will focus on technical eminence and client partnership, and project management. As a senior member of the Land and Water Service Group who are changing the way we design and deliver major works to be carbon neutral and sustainable. You will take the lead on complex civil design projects that shape the places we live and work, including:
  • Infrastructure planning and design for both public and private sector clients.
  • Urban realm development within Wellington's CBD and other urban centres.
  • Commercial and Residential Land Development.
  • 3 Water and Utilities Design for Major Projects
Your role will span the full project lifecycle, from early strategy and stakeholder engagement to delivering designs that are ready for tender and construction.
More specifically, you’ll:
  • Lead the development of technical design solutions and apply your civil expertise to solve our clients’ toughest challenges and develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Leading the conversion of analyses and preliminary design ideas into developed designs suitable for tender and construction and championing technical excellence and design quality across every phase of a project.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members and working alongside multi-disciplinary teams to bring bold, sustainable, innovative ideas to life.
  • Internal Project Management and Design Management of large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
  • Advocate for digital transformation and innovation within projects, engage with digital practice leaders, and leverage design-to-innovate tools to enhance client value and project delivery.

With relevant experience in a similar consultancy-based role (preferably within New Zealand) and a relevant tertiary qualification (such as a Bachelor of Civil Engineer), the ideal candidate will possess the following experience and attributes:
  • Strong experience across general civil design – including roads, subdivisions, earthworks, drainage, water civils, utilities, pavements, and more.
  • Strong knowledge of NZ design standards and their implementation in civil design,
  • Experience in construction monitoring and quality assurance to ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards.
  • Strong preference for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent registration, or someone who is working towards it.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills – with clients, communities, and contractors alike.
  • A collaborative spirit, strong cultural awareness, and a desire to mentor others.
