The University of Waikato is looking for a communications-savvy relationship builder to join our International and Engagement Office. As Strategic Engagement Advisor, you’ll help elevate the University’s reputation by engaging key stakeholders and telling the stories that set us apart.
This dynamic role blends strategic communications, relationship management, and content creation to enhance our visibility and reputation. You’ll craft compelling messaging, build lasting partnerships, and activate champions who share our vision and amplify our impact. Salary will be in the range of $85,279 to $97,532 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

With a background in communications, business, or management, you bring hands-on experience in managing stakeholder relationships and crafting content that resonates across audiences and channels.
You know how to plan and tailor messaging for different stakeholders, ensuring every communication aligns with brand and purpose. Your writing is consistent, audience-focused, and strategically driven. You’re confident using CRM systems to support outreach and track engagement, and you understand how meaningful engagement can drive long-term reputation outcomes.
Experience in a tertiary or public sector setting is a bonus, as is an interest in how communications support performance in international rankings. Most importantly, you bring energy, clarity, and a collaborative spirit to everything you do.
