The role is expected to be a trusted adviser, business partner, and leader to support the Compliance matters in New Zealand. The role will be based in Auckland, New Zealand though we may consider candidates from Wellington.

Supporting Apex’s compliance function in New Zealand.
Support the day-to-day reporting requirements including monthly and weekly compliance reporting, periodic compliance risk assessments and analysis reporting, regulatory filings etc. General scope of work as expected from a Compliance Officer would fall within the coverage of this role.
This role works closely with the local business and functions and stakeholders pursuant to the Compliance Charter of the Apex Group.
Own, manage or otherwise support the internal compliance matters for New Zealand fallen within the second line of defence and ensure compliance deadlines are met and relevant stakeholders are engaged.
Support, implement, maintain, and monitor adherence with Apex’s compliance framework, programme and policies including without limitation, AML, data protection, ethics, conflict of interest etc. for the Apex New Zealand businesses and operations.
Provide advice on compliance issues and regulatory requirements relating to Apex New Zealand businesses especially in relation to the FMC Act, AML, KYC, FATCA, CRS etc. and other compliance related issues and requirements including without limitation, AML due diligence, PEP and Sanction checks on clients and investors etc.
Ensure a robust suspicious activity practices are in place and be the first point of escalation for any suspicious activity and report such suspicious activity to regulatory authorities as appropriate.
Act as the designated AML officer and designated Privacy and Data Protection Officer for the legal entity businesses, if required.
Keep abreast of all regulatory requirements for the Apex New Zealand practices and advise management and stakeholders as appropriate.
Prepare and pursue regular compliance reporting required by the Apex Group and local law and regulations.
Ensure quality and effective delivery of compliance support.
Attend to other tasks as assigned
Skills Required:
Over 2-3 years’ solid compliance experience and proven track record relevant to Apex’s New Zealand businesses preferred, but consideration may also be given to a strong graduate candidate.
Professional compliance qualification e.g. ACAMS qualification will be desirable
Expertise in AML / CFT and/or Privacy Act compliance is highly desirable
Strategic thinker and problem solver with analytical capability and able to provide options and solutions to achieve results
Strong people management skill with all levels and being able to work independently and working as a team player. Attentive to details and accuracy.
Organized and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Ability to multi-task, prioritize workloads and manage timescales. Ability to meet tight deadlines.
An added advantage is knowledge and understanding of compliance in other jurisdictions.
A working knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment for retail investment product providers would be highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills
Strong PC skills including Word, Excel, Power BI and general data management and presentation skills
