About the Role:

Spark, Corporate Relations Partner – Internal communications

One year fixed term contract

We are looking for a passionate and high performing communicator to join our Corporate Relations and Sustainability team at Spark.

We are looking for a self-starter, who can work collaboratively with different areas of our large and complex business and develop internal communications campaigns to engage our team of around 5,000 people. You’ll be our company journalist – telling the stories of our people and informing them about critical information. From call centres to retail stores, corporate offices, infrastructure and field services, engineers and data analysts, our people and teams are diverse, and their communications needs are diverse too. As such, we need someone who can work in a fast-paced environment and think creatively to help us build an inclusive and high-performance innovation culture at Spark.

Based in our Auckland head office on Albert St, you’ll work on a range of internal communications activities across Spark and our subsidiaries. You will be focused on business partnering with the People and Culture team to create a compelling people experience at Spark and promoting the wide range of benefits, initiatives, events, and services that Spark offers our people. You’ll report to the Corporate Relations Lead who oversees our ‘Corporate’ portfolio and work closely with wider business stakeholders to engage our people through creative and effective communications plans.


Day to day you will be involved in:
    • Report to the Corporate Relations Lead and work together to implement communications plans that support the Corporate Relations Strategy, specifically focused on the internal communications portfolio.
    • Act as the primary business partner to our People and Culture team and develop internal communications strategies that support their strategy – including our ambitions across diversity and inclusion, Mahi Tahi wellbeing, learning and development, and more.
    • Support the deployment of Spark’s quarterly hybrid Business Updates, which provide our people with an update on performance and strategy.
    • Develop-employee communications materials such as EDMs, update Viva Engage, presentations, Q&As, and news articles.
    • Identify story opportunities within the business that bring our innovation culture and people strategy to life and identify and manage potential risks and issues.
    • Develop and foster effective relationships with key internal stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with the wider Corporate Relations and Sustainability team to develop effective internal communications to promote sustainability initiatives and external brand and marketing campaigns to Spark people.
    • Work effectively with Spark’s creative agencies to develop creative design elements that support internal communication plans.
    • Maintain and regularly update Spark’s corporate website with the latest media releases and news stories, governance documents, and sustainability updates.
    • Work with the wider business to ensure Spark’s SharePoint (intranet) is up to date.
    • Actively seek to identify and understand new developments in your craft and apply them day-to-day.
