About your team
The Strategy Implementation group is a small group with a broad skillset focused on supporting the organisation to embed the strategy and transition to the key shifts required. The group also leads WorkSafe's Health and Safety Reforms programme.
The group provides the systems and processes needed to implement, embed, and monitor WorkSafe's strategy and functional model.
We will also be looking to the future and positioning WorkSafe to build on the successes of the past, by navigating how we mature as an effective and trusted regulator under our strategy and functional model.
The Strategy Implementation group roles are fixed term and focused on supporting the delivery of the strategic health and safety work programme
About the role
Reporting to the Programme Delivery Lead, this role will be responsible for the successful delivery of WorkSafe's Health and Safety Reforms digital enablers that are key to the changes required to support internal business teams and external stakeholders.
The Delivery Lead will play a pivotal role in coordinating Agile ceremonies and applying a broad toolkit of Agile practices, project management methodologies, and facilitation skills to support the successful delivery of high-quality software releases.
The Health and Safety reforms programme runs through to the end of 2026 and is operating a hybrid-Agile delivery approach. The role works alongside the Business Leads (Heads of in operational roles) and other key stakeholders to ensure programme delivery meets business needs and delivers on the expectations of WorkSafe's Letter of Expectations.
This is a fixed term role until end of 2026 with a potential to extend based on the work plan.
What You'll Do
- The Delivery Lead is responsible for all programme management related activities, ensuring successful delivery of the work plan and will lead planning activities in partnership with the Business Lead and delivery team, including quarterly planning, scoping of deliverables, sprint planning, and managing the programme roadmap in alignment with key milestones outlined in the work plan.
- Monitor and report progress against planned delivery by driving daily stand-ups, fortnightly retros, fortnightly reporting and contributing to reporting through to ELT the Board and the Minister.
- Engage with the Sponsor, Business Lead and key stakeholders (including the wider programme team(s), executive and managers (across the agency) to ensure the programme is delivery to planned outcomes and that stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Oversee quality control throughout the life cycle of delivery and manage adequate business transformation activities to ensure that any new policies or processes are successfully transitioned to business-as-usual processes.
- Monitor and manage resource, including supporting the team to ensure the availability of subject matter experts or other stakeholders and coordinate with other managers for acquisition of any required resource support.
What You'll Bring
- At least five years' experience leading programmes and projects, using an Agile, hybrid-Agile or time-boxed waterfall approach, including Agile delivery experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner.
- A project management certification (e.g. PMI or Prince 2) is preferable.
- Proven experience undertaking complex analysis and producing insights to inform business planning and change alongside experience in delivering change in a complex environment.
- The ability to get up to speed with programmes already underway and deliver results at previously agreed milestones.
- Excellent communication, planning and influencing skills with proven ability to build strong relationships
- Understanding of government processes and experience applying a te ao Maori approach throughout programme delivery.
