About the role:
Reporting to the National Sustainability, Planning & Environment Manager, the main purpose of this role is to actively lead and promote a culture of quality and environmental responsibility across Holcim.
This role will require weekly travel to our Aggregates, Cement & Ready-Mix Concrete sites throughout NZ.
You will be responsible for the functions below:
Lead environmental compliance by providing advice and support to the Aggregates, Cement & Ready-Mix Concrete business units to ensure that the Holcim Environmental Management System (EMS), resource consent and permit conditions (including management plans) are understood and met. This includes a focus on processing water, stormwater, air quality, and waste.
Lead site-specific environmental audits against the Holcim EMS and/or resource consent and permit conditions.
Assist in implementation of quality management system requirements, undertake internal audits, support external audits, incident management, and reporting.
Identify and manage environmental risks or breaches, including investigations into incidents and determination of root cause and corrective actions.
Support the delivery of site-specific environmental improvements by providing advice and support to Managers and Operations to achieve compliance.
Support internal sustainability reporting, and implement site-specific sustainability initiatives, that are aligned with Holcim's four key sustainability pillars of climate, circularity, nature and people.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need the following experience and qualifications:
Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline such as environmental sciences, environmental management, engineering or sustainability.
Solid, practical and pragmatic experience in environmental management and resource consent compliance at an operational level.
Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills.
Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) international standard, including auditing.
Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS) international standard, including auditing.
Strong knowledge of process and stormwater treatment and management systems, ideally at similar industrial operations with high sediment loads and high pH affected water.
5+ years of relevant experience in a similar industry.
Excellent computer skills (Google Workspace suite, GIS, SAP).
