You will provide technical strengths in a variety of potential service and business areas. You will help us to build on our current team capability and portfolio reach in NZ, the Pacific and Australia, and to also link up to our other entity teams in South-East Asia and elsewhere around the world. You will help to align the team to capitalize on shifting market demands and opportunities and seamlessly align with Haskoning’s global and regional vision and mission.

You will work closely with the Environmental Team Leads in NZ with a view to enhancing our technical delivery quality, with a primary focus on climate adaptation, disaster risk management and loss & damage (L&D).

Based on your skill sets and proven experience you will be involved in a variety of service delivery areas such as:

  • Economic loss and damage assessment
  • Non-economic loss and damage methodologies (incl. cultural heritage and biodiversity)
  • Climate risk transfer to L&D frameworks
  • Climate finance proposal development for L&D
  • L&D policy or programme design

As an Environmental Consultant, you will be pivotal to the provision of quality environmental services within the New Zealand Water & Maritime team. With a focus on both local, regional, national and international delivery, you will be an instrumental part of the environmental and design offerings originating from New Zealand. Your skills and experience will also influence positively the growth of the New Zealand environmental team in a variety of potential service and market areas. This team growth would be ensured through the execution of an approved business plan, of which you will be asked to contribute to. You will also be responsible for overseeing technical excellence in relevant deliverables, the hiring of environmental personnel (perhaps in your geography and subject matter expertise) and also agreed commercial targets. You will help us to build on our current team capability and portfolio reach in New Zealand and the Pacific, and to also link up to our teams elsewhere in Australia, South-East Asia and around the world. You will help to align the team to capitalize on shifting market demands and opportunities and seamlessly align with Haskoning’s global and regional vision and mission.

Based on your skill sets and proven experience you will assist the Environmental Team in technically developing and growing the following business initiatives across Australia (other areas may be developed in time so this list is not exhaustive):

  • Climate risk, resilience and adaptation. Working with our emerging climate adaptation and disaster risk teams across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia. Providing technical leadership in economic loss and damage assessment, climate risk and financing, etc.
  • Haskoning presence in New Zealand - the continued development of local service offerings to the South and North Island, and Pacific markets. To allow for the further development of Haskoning service offerings (i.e. water and maritime engineering and design) in future months and years - to be discussed in further detail.
  • Environmental planning and consenting. Principally working with and alongside the engineering and design teams within Haskoning but also helping to forge environmental service offerings directly with external clientele where possible.
