An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Environmental Engineer to join SLR’s Sustainable Waste Management discipline in our thriving and growing Auckland office. We are seeking a person with a passion for developing, designing, and implementing engineered solutions across a broad range of environmental projects, and a desire to work with likeminded individuals, whilst enjoying excellent career opportunities across a range of industry sectors.
A key theme we wish to develop is the ethos of delivery of pragmatic solutions to help clients achieve their desired outcomes in a cost-effective manner and provide first rate customer service. Sustainable growth relies on maintaining strong existing customer relationships, and therefore the role requires ensuring high levels of customer service are maintained and fostering the role of SLR as a ‘trusted advisor’.
Responsibilities
This role will involve working across a broad range of environmental engineering including closed landfill remediation, landfill concept development, landfill detail design, and alternative energy to waste projects.
This role will be responsible for the completion of calculations, technical drawing packages, design reporting, and management plan development. You will also be responsible for the undertaking of field-based investigations and completion of construction oversight/validation activities under the instruction of senior staff members.
Skills and experience
You will also possess the following skills:
- A professional qualification in engineering or other relevant degree and circa 3-5+ years. professional experience in consulting or similar industry role.
- Proven capability in developing, designing, and implementing engineered solutions.
- Proficiency in technical calculations, reporting.
- Ability to accurately interpret analytical data, proven technical report writing skills and high computer literacy including data management and manipulation.
- Ability to identify and escalate of potential project risks manage to project managers.
- A willingness to complete nationwide fieldworks programmes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A curiosity to learn and take on new challenges.
- Excellent driving history and hold a current unrestricted driver's license.
- New Zealand Citizenship or rights to work in New Zealand.
