Fashion & Sustainability at Whitecliffe
The Whitecliffe School of Fashion and Sustainability offers programmes in Fashion and Jewellery from certificate and diploma levels through to degree-level study. Our internationally recognised Fashion + Sustainability programmes focus on the importance of being creative, yet responsive and socially conscious. Our students emerge as thoughtful, skilled, and intelligent designers with connections to industry professionals and extensive design practice.
About You
You are passionate about your students and your team and are driven to helping them achieve the highest possible outcomes.
You will be responsible for delivering the Bachelors of Sustainable Fashion and Design using leading edge concepts, practices and methodologies to maximise Whitecliffe students’ employment and further education opportunities.
About the opportunity
The areas for focus of teaching, assessment, curriculum development, research, and student support are the basis for the primary duties and responsibilities of the role.
- Teaching Assessment and Curriculum Development: Effectively deliver quality educational programme(s) using leading edge concepts, practices and methodologies to maximise Whitecliffe students’ employment and further education opportunities as well as contribution to their community.
- Research: It is expected that lecturers engage in on-going research activity at a level appropriate to the qualification level and career stage of a Lecturer. Quality assured outputs within the field or discipline, either individually or as part of a group. This may include contributions to the advancement of artistic practice through creative works.
- Student support: A strong focus on success of the College, the students and other staff members; achieving a high degree of positive stakeholder relations, engagement and satisfaction. Learner Success and student outcomes being a key and critical focus for the role of Lecturer.
What you will bring
- A student centric passion and approach to teaching
- A level 8 postgraduate qualification or higher in a related field
- Teaching in a tertiary level environment would be advantageous
- Experience in pattern cutting, sewing and design skills
- Relevant industry experience and knowledge in contemporary Fashion Design and Adobe Illustrator
- Excellent English writing and oral communication skills
- The ability to relate with students from a diverse range of backgrounds
- An ability to understand a complex concept and retell it in a manner that people find easy to understand
- The right to work and live in New Zealand
