About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic, proactive and experienced Chapter Lead within our Finance Delivery Centre. This role is responsible for leading on financial and investment support for Capex and Leases across Spark and reports to the Finance Lead Partner – Finance Delivery Centre. It is a pivotal role providing strategic direction and financial stewardship to the business, driving for best outcomes that deliver on our commitments, with leadership of a team of finance partners and investment business partners. You will be someone who loves to drive process improvement, elevate team performance and be across the big picture while also feeling excited by technical issues around capex and leases.


Day to day you will be involved in:

  • Lead the Capex and Leases team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Develop and implement robust governance frameworks for Capex and lease activities, improving current processes and challenging the status quo.
  • Lead the business in navigating complex investment trade-offs, balancing customer requirements, financial returns, technology evolution, lifecycle management, capacity and coverage needs, and available CapEx and OpEx.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for capex and lease activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to drive alignment and effective decision-making.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of capex and lease activities, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Diving in to technical review of leasing decisions and understanding broader impacts of decisions and trade offs

What experience you'll bring?

  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within the telecommunications or technology sector.
  • Strong understanding of capex and leases accounting, principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to constructively challenge and influence stakeholders of all levels.
  • Able to see the bigger picture whilst also rolling sleeves up and being across the numbers.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Adaptable and agile, able to prioritise and juggle multiple demands across the portfolio.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in finance or business and qualified CA.
