Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kāiarahi Tahua Tauira - Student Finance Adviser to join the Student Finance team in a permanent role.
Student Finance Advisers are responsible for promoting and supporting financial capability within our students, administering our Hardship Fund and working with wider University teams to ensure our services reach students in need.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality, confidential and non-judgmental financial advice that meets students’ individual needs, increases their financial capability and helps them achieve their full academic potential.
- Process Hardship applications and provide impartial assessment for Scholarships on the basis of financial hardship in a thorough and timely manner to ensure fair decisions are made.
- Deliver workshops and presentations on financial literacy and budgeting to a wide range of staff and students.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative, build rapport and engage empathetically with our diverse student population.
You will thrive in this role if you have an excellent manner with people, high levels of accuracy with financial administration, and self-management skills. This role is busy, challenging, extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament.
Key requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated relevant experience in finance or accounting.
- Demonstrable experience in providing financial planning or budgeting advice.
- Previous experience of a strong client centric approach to delivering excellent customer service or client services.
- Proven ability to work to a very high standard of accuracy, with an appreciation of the importance of data integrity.
