We’re looking for a well-organised, detail-focused team player to support the smooth running of our governance processes and the delivery of clear, accessible Council communications.
As Governance and Communications Support Officer,you’ll work closely with the Governance Administrator and Communications Advisor to provide essential coordination, content support, and official information processing. From preparing LGOIMA responses and updating the Council website, to backing up governance meetings and helping draft media content — your work will help keep the organisation connected, compliant, and community-focused.
This role is ideal for someone with strong writing and organisational skills, a good understanding of local government, and the ability to work confidently across multiple priorities.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting the delivery of effective governance processes, including meeting coordination and document preparation
- Assisting with the development of media releases, newsletters, and digital content
- Monitoring media and social channels, and responding to public enquiries
- Helping ensure Council communications are consistent, timely, and aligned to best practice
- Liaising with internal teams and external agencies on information requests and communications

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive information and respond to deadlines
- Confident using digital platforms, including social media and web content tools
- A collaborative, proactive approach and a strong sense of accountability
