The Role
This is a permanent full-time position, reporting to the Group Warehouse and Logistics Manager. The Group Import & Export Coordinator will handle all aspects of the export and import operations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all activities relating to export and import of goods in coordination with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining high level of customer service in line with governance requirements.
This is a fast-pace, detail-heavy role where you’ll be coordinating closely with freight forwarders, 3PL providers, Shipping agents, internal teams, and NZ Customs. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and managing export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and export declarations, ensuring full.
- Coordinating with customs agents and freight partners to facilitate smooth and timely shipments.
- Serving as the primary contact for vendors and logistics partners, managing schedules, tracking shipments, and resolving shipping issues.
- Troubleshooting delays and supporting contingency planning.
- Keeping internal teams updated on shipment status and issues.
- Managing shipping costs and associated fees (MPI, demurrage, container holds).
- Monitoring and advising on trade compliance and regulatory changes.
About you!
- 2 – 4 years of experience in import and export operations (inventory management and knowledge of accounting is essential)
- Certification in export compliance or logistics preferred but not required
- Training and accreditation as a TFO preferable
- A solid grasp of compliance and regulations including knowledge of Incoterms and international trade agreements
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and strategically minded, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A team player who is eager to learn and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
