About the Role
The Group Manager for Hauora Māori Standards will lead the team that support the development of Hauora Māori standards across Health NZ. Focusing on cultural policy, clinical workforce competence, and intergration into national learning programmes, this role will collaborate with Hauora Māori Services subject matter experts, Tikanga leadership, and the Chief Clinical Officer. Key initiatives include creating evaluation tools, embedding Te Mauri o Rongo in training, and establishing learning outcomes linked to patient and whānau wellbeing.

As the Hauora Māori Service of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) our core role is to ensure New Zealanders have better and more timely access to health care. The devolution of resources and decision making to the regions ensures those closest to service users and whānau are involved in decisions on how healthcare is delivered. We are committed to ensuring our operating model is responsive to the needs of Māori.
About you
You bring extensive experience in strategic planning with an understanding of Hauora Māori approaches and the application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within healthcare. A skilled communicator and collaborator, you excel in the development, evaluation, and integration of Māori health frameworks, ensuring that metrics are meaningfully linked to improved outcomes for patients and whānau.
You will have:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including leadership experience at a senior level
- Strong understanding of the Pae Ora Act, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and relevant health legislation
- Experience in leading significant programmes of work from development to implementation
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, with experience in the health sector considered an advantage
