About the Role
The Regional Group Manager, Service Improvement leads a team focused on enhancing health services and outcomes for Māori through innovative, community-driven solutions. Working across regional and local levels with health partners, the role ensures services are responsive to Māori needs. It also fosters a learning culture grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, promoting professional growth and meaningful collaboration.
About the Team/Service/ Location
As the Hauora Māori Service of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) our core role is to ensure New Zealanders have better and more timely access to health care. The devolution of resources and decision making to the regions ensures those closest to service users and whānau are involved in decisions on how healthcare is delivered. We are committed to ensuring our operating model is responsive to the needs of Māori.
About you
You bring extensive experience in policy, advisory, and leadership roles, with a strong track record in strategic planning and service improvement. A confident and articulate communicator, you excel at building and maintaining relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. You value diversity as a driver of inclusive, effective solutions—particularly within a Māori cultural context—and demonstrate strong cultural competence in tikanga, te reo Māori, and kawa.
You will have:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including leadership experience at a senior level
- Strong understanding of the Pae Ora Act, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and relevant health legislation
- Experience in leading significant programmes of work from development to implementation
- Proven ability to manage complex and technical projects, with experience in the health sector considered an advantage
