We are excited to announce a brand-new and high-impact opportunity for a Head of Brand and Design to join our team on a permanent basis at our vibrant Head Office on Fanshawe Street, Auckland.
In this pivotal role, you’ll take the lead in bringing our brand to life by shaping and embedding world-class design systems that reflect and reinforce our core brand values. With creativity at the forefront, you’ll drive visual consistency and brand excellence across every touchpoint — ensuring our identity resonates powerfully and with purpose.

Reporting to the General Manager of Brand & Marketing, your primary responsibility will be to oversee Fonterra's brand and marketing creative initiatives, ensuring these efforts align with the company's overall brand strategy and marketing objectives.

This role is crucial for meeting the organization's brand and marketing objectives, emphasising strategic alignment and consistency across different business sectors and markets.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead the implementation and evolution of new and existing Brand and Marketing creative storytelling, bringing to life our core narratives through visual communication.
  • Ensure the global brand and marketing design team consistently delivers effective brand-aligned marketing collateral
  • Provide technical leadership, foster a deep competency within the team, using a digital-first approach across brand and marketing design systems, creating efficiency and effectiveness using AI tools and design systems.
  • Lead creative and brand-aligned solutions to complex and challenging brand and marketing initiatives in alignment with the Brand Marketing Strategy, championing the brand architecture of Fonterra as an endorser brand for our commercial brands AFP and NZMP.
  • Provide creative leadership, fostering a deep understanding of brand marketing objectives and creative effectiveness.

As Head of Brand and Design, you’ll play a key strategic role, partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure our creative vision is tightly aligned with business priorities. Your ability to communicate with clarity, collaborate with confidence, and build strong, trusted relationships will be instrumental in cultivating a brand and marketing culture that’s not only strategic — but energised, inclusive, and purpose-driven.
Bringing a wealth of experience from both agency and in-house environments, you’ll inspire, mentor, and elevate a talented team — empowering them to thrive creatively while remaining laser-focused on accountability and impact. With your commercial acumen and passion for operational excellence, you'll lead with purpose, ensuring every campaign is executed with precision and delivers measurable results.

Other key requirements include:
  • Extensive experience in creative marketing leadership roles, with expertise in digital and brand design, team leadership on both client and agency sides, and customer insights analysis
  • Degree in Graphic Design, with proven visual design skills across various media and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, video editing tools, and AI design tools is a must.
  • Creative storyteller, who has the ability to craft brand and marketing creative utilising our brand visual identity integrated with our messaging framework.
  • Experience in reviewing key audience/customer-focused and traditional marketing copywriting, collaborating with in house, market teams and third-party agencies
