We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Business Partner to join our People team and lead our Health and Safety strategy across the organisation.
The Role
As our Health & Safety Business Manager, you will take a lead role in shaping, implementing, and championing health and safety initiatives. This sole-charge position offers a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to step up into a manager-level role and make a real impact. You will work closely with leaders and teams across the business to embed a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation, and drive continuous improvement.
This role is a full-time position working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday based at our head office on Tidal Rd, Mangere. While some flexibility is available, due to the nature of the role, onsite presence is essential. We have manufacturing facilities in Auckland, Hamilton and Sydney and so occasional travel to Australia will be required.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective health and safety policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards
- Lead investigations into incidents, identify root causes, and recommend preventative measures
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and manage hazards
- Provide training, guidance, and support to employees at all levels
- Report on health and safety performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management and the Board
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors
- Promote and foster a positive safety culture throughout the organisation
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A relevant Health and Safety qualification
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a business partner or higher-level role, preferably in manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices (knowledge of Australian WHS legislation is an advantage)
- Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- A proactive approach and commitment to continuous improvement
