Are you passionate about maintaining and enhancing public green spaces? Do you have leadership experience in horticulture and a drive for excellence? Timaru District Council is looking for a dedicated Horticulture Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and development of our district’s horticultural assets.
As Horticulture Supervisor, you will ensure that our gardens, parks and reserves are maintained by our in-house parks maintenance team to the highest standards. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating horticulture maintenance teams, overseeing maintenance projects, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This role provides hands-on first-line leadership to a dedicated team, working alongside maintenance teams, ensuring a high-quality, effective, and community-responsive service. As a leader, you will provide training and development for the horticulture team while fostering teamwork, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Supporting process improvements and cost-saving initiatives will be a key part of your contribution to the team.
You will have proven experience in horticulture along with strong leadership and team management skills. A Horticulture Level 4 qualification is a must. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential.

This is a permanent role and offers 40 hours per week, plus some weekend work based on the roaster basis. The annual salary for this role is $80,201.39 - $94,354.58 per annum. Check out a copy of the position description here. For further information please email us at [email protected].
