Position: Horticulture Leading Hand

Location: Bay of Plenty
Pay Rate: $30 to $38 per hour
Minimum Hours of Work Per Week: 30
Maximum Hours of Work Per Week: 40
Key Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience OR a Level 4 or above qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate daily orchard tasks such as thinning, pruning, harvesting, and canopy maintenance.
Supervise and support seasonal and permanent workers on assigned blocks
Monitor work standards and provide hands-on training to staff as required
Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures
Liaise with supervisors and managers to report progress, issues, or delays
Maintain records of daily activities and labour usage
Assist with pest and disease monitoring and control
Check equipment before use and report maintenance needs
Train team members in safe and efficient work methods
Monitor weather and orchard conditions and adjust activities accordingly
Encourage a positive and productive work environment
Support in the implementation of orchard schedules and seasonal plans
Ensure completion of assigned tasks within expected timeframes and quality standards
