About the role
We're looking for a collaborative, future-focused Information Manager to lead information governance, privacy, records, and digital workplace tools at Hutt City Council. Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, you'll guide our information management, archives, privacy, and LIMs functions - setting strategy, driving improvement, and ensuring best practice across the organisation.
You will:
- Lead the development of frameworks and practices for records, archives and privacy.
- Oversee our digital workplace tools (including our document management system, SharePoint) and support business teams to use them effectively.
- Act as our Privacy Officer, providing guidance, managing risks, and leading Council's response to privacy matters.
- Ensure timely, accurate and customer-focused delivery of Land Information Memorandums (LIMs).
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Information and LIM teams, fostering a culture of service, innovation, and collaboration.
- Champion information maturity and continuous improvement through practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.

You'll be someone who:
- Has a strong interest or background in corporate information systems, privacy, archives, or public sector compliance.
- Is strategic and pragmatic, with the ability to translate big picture thinking into everyday solutions.
- Is knowledgeable in relevant legislation (e.g. Privacy Act, Public Records Act) - or a willingness to build your expertise quickly.
- Is an experienced people leader, or demonstrates leadership potential, who inspires and empowers others to deliver great outcomes.
- Is a confident communicator who builds strong relationships and provides trusted advice to stakeholders at all levels.
