Mō tēnei tūranga mahi – About the Role
We’re looking for a Lead Consultant – Data & AI to join our high-performing team. This is a strategic and hands-on role, combining technical delivery, customer engagement, leadership, and mentoring.
You’ll be instrumental in delivering robust, scalable data and business intelligence solutions, mentoring our talented consultants, and helping grow both customer value and our AI capabilities. You'll lead engagements, build strong customer relationships, and guide the delivery of solutions that support long-term success and transformation.

As a Lead Consultant, you’ll focus on three key areas:
- Delivering outstanding solutions through deep investigation, innovative design, and efficient execution—ensuring business value and customer success.
- Leading consulting engagements, often onsite, and working closely with a top-performing team to deliver a world-class experience.
- Coaching and mentoring consultants to support both career growth and project success—playing a key role in developing our team’s technical and consulting capability.
Ngā mahi o ia rā – What You’ll Do
Business Focus
- Identify and capture opportunities to grow the business.
- Be commercially aware of utilisation, project scope, and delivery economics.
- Proactively manage and protect billable time through effective planning and engagement.
Customer & Relationship Focus
- Deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
- Build deep, trusted relationships with customers, colleagues, and partners.
- Fully understand customer requirements and design value-adding, future-proof solutions.
- Follow through on commitments and lead others through the solution delivery process.
- Contribute to a culture of openness, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Technical & Consulting Delivery
- Provide hands-on leadership across solution design and implementation.
- Apply best practices, templates, and standards in BI, data engineering, and analytics.
- Work with modern platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and cloud services like Azure and AWS.
- Lead the design and creation of high-quality Statements of Work (SoWs) and project estimates.
- Take ownership of delivery from end to end, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Mentorship & Team Leadership
- Mentor consultants through feedback, coaching, and technical guidance.
- Help team members develop a growth mindset and take ownership of their careers.
- Lead by example—acting with integrity, delivering on commitments, and living Qrious values.
- Support a learning environment through internal knowledge sharing, peer support, and training.
Tō Wheako – What You Bring
- A passion for data, AI, and emerging technologies.
- Proven consulting experience, ideally in data engineering, BI, or analytics.
- Strong delivery leadership—confident managing complex projects and stakeholders.
- Experience with visualisation tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik, and BI platforms like SSRS, SSAS, Cognos, or Microstrategy.
- Familiarity with modern data and cloud platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server, Azure, AWS.
- Strong time management and the ability to juggle multiple projects effectively.
- A collaborative mindset and the confidence to lead, mentor, and coach others.
- High integrity, curiosity, and a drive to stay ahead of the curve through continuous learning.
