Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel

BECA
Auckland, Auckland

Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As an integral member of Beca’s collaborative and collegial legal team based in Auckland, you will partner with senior leaders and decision-makers to support assigned business lines operating in Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Your commercially astute and solutions-focused legal advice will contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the business lines you support. This will include reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, advising the business on a range of commercial issues and contributing to sound decisions that balance risk and opportunity.

This partnering role will see you establishing effective relationships and directly interacting with executives, business leaders and decision makers in a dynamically evolving, fast-paced business environment.

Ko wai koe | About you

As a qualified lawyer with an NZ practising certificate (or equivalent), you bring approx. 6-10 years PQE in commercial, contract and/or construction law, from within a leading law firm and/or in-house legal team. Enjoying complexity, you’ll be adept at recognising and highlighting key issues, interpreting these for business colleagues, and leading contract negotiations and providing commercially relevant advice. You’ll be excited by the opportunity to own and see the long-term outcomes of your recommendations and by the scope for influence with business decision-makers. Your commercial perspective, curiosity, consultative approach, growth mindset and professional credibility ensure your success in fostering effective partnering relationships across all levels and functions. Equally you enjoy contributing to team culture through your collaborative and enthusiastic approach.
