The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group is responsible for commissioning, funding, and stewarding high-quality services that support disabled people, their families, and whānau.

 

We’re building leadership and management capacity across our teams to deliver both change and business-as-usual effectively.

 

We work closely with providers, stakeholders, and communities to ensure services are fair, consistent, transparent and sustainable. With a strong focus on performance monitoring, data, and insights, we’re committed to continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for driving commercial excellence?

 

Join us as the Manager Commercial Outcomes, where you’ll lead a team of commercial specialists to deliver high-impact commissioning outcomes through procurement and contracting.

 

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to shape the future of commercial capability within DSS, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and innovation.

 

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of strategic sourcing and category planning, collaborating across DSS and MSD to embed best practice and uplift commercial capability. You’ll provide expert advice to senior leaders, influence decision-making, and ensure our procurement practices meet the highest standards of governance and accountability.

•   Leading and managing high-performing Commercial Outcomes Team

•   Lead the development of sourcing strategies Develop and implement organisational strategies and frameworks to continually improve procurement best practice, compliance with policy and organisational capabilities

•  Provide strategic and best practice guidance and advice to senior leaders

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga

 

•   Proven leadership experience in strategic procurement or commercial environments

•   Deep understanding of NZ Government Procurement practices and commercial frameworks

•   Strong people management skills with a track record of building high-performing, motivated teams

•   Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills

•   Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex challenges into actionable solutions

•   Skilled in risk management, change leadership, and continuous improvement

•   Politically astute with sound judgement and organisational awareness

•   Committed to embedding Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in decision-making
