About the role

The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin.

Our IDS comprises of three parts as follows:

  • Ward 10a - medium secure forensic Intellectual Disability unit
  • The step-down cottage
  • The Community Liaison team

As a Mental Healthcare Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • supporting our nurses and other members of the healthcare team
  • patient movement
  • patient cares, as required
  • stock reconciliation
  • ward maintenance
  • patient watch/supervision, with one-on-one care as required.
