About the role | Mō te tūnga:
Hon Judith Collins KC MP is looking for an MP Support Advisor to join her team in the Electorate/Community office in Papakura, for 30-40 hours per week. This is a wide and varied position providing community engagement and constituent services. You’ll be providing information and support to constituents, helping your MP engage with the community, and supporting your MP’s activities in the community. The ability to build strong and trusted relationships is key to being successful in this role.
What you will bring to the role | Tō kete:
You’ll need to have strong relationship management and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work with a diverse range of people and organisations. You’ll bring strong, administrative, organisational and technical skills. You’ll be a key player in the MP’s support team based out of the Papakura office, although at times will be required to work autonomously.
You are community-minded, technologically savvy, proactive, highly organised and willing to roll up your sleeves and get things done! You have a high level of empathy and cultural sensitivity and no matter who you’re engaging with, you leave them feeling supported and valued. You’ll be well known for your proactive, driven, and resilient character. You are a team player.
As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be politically impartial in your role. Your MP will expect you to have an awareness of the political landscape to better support her.

Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa:
- Liaise between the MP and the community, representing the MP where required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local groups and networks, to understand and respond to their needs.
- Receive and investigate constituents’ concerns and issues, meeting with constituents for further information where required.
- Advocate for constituents at Ministerial level, with Government agencies, e.g. Work and Income, Immigration New Zealand, New Zealand Police, Health NZ, and with other business and community organisations where required.
- Undertake office administration and create and maintain information databases.
- Work in with the MP and other staff to keep the office staffed and constituents’ needs addressed.
- A willingness to become a Justice of the Peace is preferred.

The pay band for the role starts at $72,100 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an ‘events-based’ agreement, with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based in the Papakura Electorate/Community office, for 30-40 hours per week.
