Job Description
As the New Zealand Accounting Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in steering all NZ entities to meet their financial reporting commitments—both for US Head Office reporting and local statutory compliance—with precision and efficiency. You’ll be a key voice on the NZ Management Team, leading the accounting function with confidence and driving the successful transition to new financial systems. What you will be doing:
- Overseeing and ensuring all six New Zealand divisions/ entities consistently meet their Group and Local statutory reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions—accurately and on time.
- Leading the budgeting and forecasting process for the six divisions/entities
- Partnering closely with business leaders across the country to uncover opportunities to streamline processes and drive cost efficiencies.
- Be the main point of contact for system implementation
- Inspiring and leading a high-performing team of five accountants, guiding them to deliver seamless monthly reporting and tackle ad hoc projects with agility.
- Preparing and drafting statutory financial statements wherever possible, ensuring compliance and clarity.
- Serving as the primary liaison for external auditors, fostering strong relationships and smooth audit processes.
- Championing prompt, high-quality delivery of all financial reporting and tax information requests from Corporate.
- Developing, issuing, and maintaining a comprehensive Finance Manual capturing end-to-end processes and best practices.
- Providing trusted support to senior management on a wide range of finance-related matters.
- Jumping in to tackle additional tasks and special projects as needed—no two days are the same!
Qualifications
Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:
- A proven track record of leading and energising teams, with 4–5 years in management dedicated to lifting performance and morale.
- The confidence and expertise to prepare and review annual budgets that fuel growth and keep the business on track.
- Deep, up-to-date technical accounting knowledge—IFRS mastery essential, US GAAP a fantastic bonus.
- A history of spearheading new accounting system rollouts and guiding teams through change with ease.
- Hands-on experience drafting polished statutory financial statements that stand up to scrutiny.
- The know-how to pull together detailed year-end packs and build strong partnerships with auditors.
- A passion for designing and enforcing robust control environments and streamlined, best-in-class processes.
- A knack for collaborating with diverse accounting teams across the Pacific, adapting to any challenge.
- Shipping or freight forwarding experience that brings an extra edge to your expertise.
- Oracle Financials proficiency—especially in implementations and continuous improvement.
- A solid background in reporting to overseas parent companies (US experience is a big plus).
- ERP implementation experience and the drive to champion smarter ways of working.
- A talent for working seamlessly across cross-functional and culturally diverse project teams.
- Exceptional report-writing skills to turn numbers into clear, actionable insights—Power BI experience highly valued.
- Exposure to international M&A and the ability to navigate complex transactions with confidence.
- A strong grasp of principal vs. agent concepts and their real-world implications.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the mindset to get things right the first time.
- An agile, adaptable approach—you thrive in a fast-moving environment.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills to bring data to life.
- Comprehensive understanding of NZ financial reporting standards and tax rules.
- A talent for juggling multiple priorities without missing a beat.

This is a full-time permanent role based in our Parnell office. You will have the right to live and work in New Zealand at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.
