Job Description
We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Operator – Recycling to join our team at the WM North Shore Refuse & Recycling Transfer Station. This is a hands-on role, supporting the smooth and safe operation of our recycling and transfer station site while helping to maximise resource recovery.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing daily VCR reporting for the Sort Line facility.
- Carrying out pre-start checks, basic maintenance, and post-operation cleaning of the Sort Line equipment.
- Performing sorting duties on the conveyor line during scheduled shifts.
- Providing backup support to the Sort Line excavator and loader operator (Class 1 with WTR licence required).
- Controlling waste and recyclable placement to maximise recovery.
- Directing customer traffic and assisting with general enquiries.
- Maintaining site cleanliness, including grounds, buildings, and landscaping.
- Undertaking general labouring and litter collection as needed.
- Supporting administrative tasks and ensuring accurate completion of records.
- Meeting recycling and diversion targets to reduce landfill waste.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for
- A current Class 1 driver licence with W, T, R endorsements (essential).
- Previous experience in waste, recycling, or machinery operation is an advantage.
- Strong attention to health and safety, with a proactive and practical approach to work.
- Good communication skills and a customer-service focus.
- A team player with a positive attitude, willing to get involved in a variety of tasks.
