Are you a detail-driven accountant with a passion to apply your expertise in a dynamic role supporting monthly reporting and financial initiatives with a focus on payroll accounting? We’re looking for a Payroll Accountant/Senior Accountant to join our collaborative Finance team, supporting critical deliverables and partnering across the business.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting month-end, budgeting, and year-end processes. You’ll partner with Payroll, HR, and Finance teams to deliver accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Lead payroll-related accounting activities, including the preparation of employee expense data and labour cost assumptions to support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.

Manage and support month end close, including reconciliation of payroll accounts and monthly payroll journals, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Assist with audits and year end reporting, including bonus calculations, long service leave revaluations, remuneration notes in annual report and other employee related provisions.

Design, develop and document existing payroll accounting processes to ensure processes meet financial reporting standards and business needs.

Act as a business partner to assigned area of business, providing information, analysis, expertise and recommendations to the management team.

Assist with share based payment accounting and other payroll-related initiatives.

Represent Finance in cross-functional projects and labour-related issues.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with a proactive mindset.
About you

3–7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles with proven experience in payroll processing and accounting.

CA qualified or equivalent.

Professional demeanour who can demonstrate sound judgement and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information

Strong technical accounting skills, payroll-related experience, including New Zealand payroll legislation is highly advantageous.

Proficient in SAP, Excel, and Power BI. Proficiency in payroll software and SAP would be preferred.

Excellent communication skills and ability to self-manage.

Experience in financial planning and business partnering.

A stable, reliable team player with a strong technical focus.

Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
