Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council are looking for an experienced HR practitioner who has a passion for all things HR to join our team as a People & Capability Senior Business Partner.

The People & Capability (P&C) team form part of our wider People and Leadership group, which includes Organisational Development and Governance teams. As a group we thrive on delivering innovative ways of developing organisational and people capability. You will have the opportunity to enable people-led actions, so we collectively achieve the strategic direction of the Council.
Working closely with the other Senior Business Partners, our People Support and Organisational Development teams, you will partner with a variety of internal business units, developing strong relationships with senior leaders and their teams.
In People and Leadership, our goal is to work together to deliver Rau Tangata Rau Pūkenga (our people strategy). The Business Partner role is integral in building capability, influencing key decisions, considering change, and enabling us to deliver on our key organisational objectives.
You will use your broad range of HR skills and proven experience to work at both a strategic and operational level as you coach, facilitate and/or guide our leaders, to bring our strategic people initiatives to life and build people leadership capability. You will also enjoy a hands-on approach across recruitment, performance coaching, ER case management, policy development, workforce planning, project management, and remuneration including job sizing.
You will also develop collaborative and supportive relationships with our existing P&C Senior Business Partners to ensure that core business hours and periods of leave are covered across all groups.

In addition, you will have:
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, relationship building, communication, negotiation, decision making, influencing, coaching, and teamwork.
- Strong proven experience in an HR generalist role with a solid understanding and working knowledge of NZ employment legislation and employment relations.
- The ability to navigate complex people topics, balancing an understanding of risk and the legal framework with doing what’s right for our organisation and the people we are here to support.
- The ability to plan work effectively and to juggle work priorities simultaneously.
- Professional courage and influence, demonstrating courage to speak up and skillfully influence others to gain buy-in.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR or a relevant discipline.
- Experience and enthusiasm with taking a strategic approach to building partnerships and working collaboratively.
- Previous experience in incorporating tikanga Māori in employment processes and procedures would be highly desirable.
