We are excited to go to market for a Senior Manager Banker Capability to join Westpac NZ’s Culture, Capability and Learning function. This role will lead a team of experienced Learning Programme Leads passionate about enabling our employees to be the best they can be across the organisation. This role reports to our Head of Culture, Capability and Learning and sits on the leadership team. This role will be perfect for an experienced Banker who has a deep interest in building capability and a learning passion!
You will be responsible for leading the design, development and delivery of learning solutions that build banker capability across technical, functional and behavioural domains for our customer-facing banker teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior banking professional to strengthen foundational banking knowledge and deepen commercial acumen to enhance people capability initiatives that support the successful delivery of the Westpac New Zealand strategy. This role ensures bankers are equipped with the skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional customer outcomes, drive performance, and adapt to a dynamic financial services environment.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into impactful capability solutions
- Extensive experience building and leading high-performing learning and capability functions in the Banking sector
- Demonstrated success in designing and delivering large-scale learning programmes across technical and functional skills
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and influencing at senior levels
- Analytical and data-driven, with a focus on measuring learning impact and translating to business outcomes
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to banker capability
- Deep expertise in adult learning, instructional design and digital learning tools
- Experience in customer-facing business function in a bank or within the wider financial services ecosystem
- Adult learning certification, or qualification in a related field (desired)
- Experience working with a learning management system (desired)
- Drives a clear vision for banker capability aligned to business goals
- Leads with purpose, empowering teams and navigating complexity with confidence
- Applies deep knowledge of adult learning and capability frameworks to design scalable, high-impact solutions using data, technology and best learning practice to enhance learner experience and outcomes
- Builds strong relationships across the business, communicating with clarity and adapting to diverse audiences
- Designs learning with the customer in mind, linking capability to performance outcomes and metrics
- Uses insights to measure impact and drive continuous improvement, leading change with resilience and curiosity
