Due to a period of parental leave, we are seeking a Policy Adviser for our Arts & Heritage Policy team on a fixed term or secondment basis until 6 March 2026.
Korero mo te turanga | About the role
In this role you will draw on your knowledge and experience of public policy processes to advise Ministers on arts and heritage policy issues. There will be opportunities to contribute and work on interesting policy issues that require balancing of economic, cultural and social outcomes, and engagement with people from across our cultural and creative system.
This role will provide you with experiences, variety and opportunities that will enhance your career. Our work spans the range of policy levers, including regulatory, funding and system-level policy and offers plenty of room and support for development and growth. We work collaboratively across other agencies and with a wide range of stakeholders.

Ideally you will have:
- Relevant experience providing policy analysis and advice in the public sector at a policy advisor level
- analytical and research skills
- Some experience advancing Maori perspectives in policy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective relationship management skills
- An ability to provide quality advice under tight timeframes
