We are currently seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join our team in Timaru. Reporting to the site manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment, meeting production targets, maintaining budget control, and managing resources efficiently. The role involves overseeing maintenance, quality assurance, and inventory management, as well as driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The key responsibilities for this position include:
- Adhere to all OHS/WHS legislation and Ridley’s OHS&E systems by promoting a safe workplace, reporting hazards and incidents, and supporting health and safety initiatives. Ensure proper use of equipment and follow up on safety incidents with thorough investigations and preventative actions.
- Maintain accurate production SOPs and ensure team members are skilled, trained, and performing to expectations.
- Manage plant resources efficiently to meet production targets, including planning for shutdowns and cleaning. Support continuous improvement by analysing plant performance and implementing optimisation strategies. Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve operational issues quickly.
- Adhere to quality systems (RMP), ensuring full traceability of products and supporting quality and commercial teams in resolving production-related customer concerns.
- Provide out-of-hours support for operational issues and contribute to developing operating and capital budgets.
- Ability to visualise and implement improvement programs (people & manufacturing processes)
- High attention to detail
- Experience with continuous improvement programs and initiatives
- Demonstrated people leader and able to build credibility and confidence with team members
- Demonstrated experience with production planning, control and measurement methodologies
- Demonstrated experience managing, leading and developing employees in a production environment
- Sound knowledge of relevant OH&S and Environmental policies, legislation, and other statutory management standards and requirements
- Experience in safety & quality management systems
- Current driver’s license
- Trained in Continuous Improvement processes (i.e. LEAN)
- Certificate IV (or above) in management or equivalent in short course training
