Mo tenei turanga - about the role

The Project Communications Lead will work as part of a skilled project team responsible to calculate and administer remediation payments to current and former Fire and Emergency New Zealand personnel for the incorrect award of historical employee entitlements. You will be responsible to identify and fulfil stakeholder information needs to support the remediation process. Primarily this will involve working at the project level, but you will also work to align communications activities with related programmes of work and strategic priorities.

This is a fixed term or secondment position until 30 June 2026.

Hit the ground running in this fixed term position with your breadth of communication skills within a complex programme environment. You will have excellent relationship building skills and will be able to build a rapport with a wide range of stakeholders from operational staff to senior leadership. You will have communications experience within a culture change or similar project environment.


To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:

  • Ability to translate complex information into plain language for a wide audience
  • Proven experience in delivering strategic communications at a senior level
  • A demonstrated breadth of experience with a focus on tactical communications
  • Experience working in a large, complex organisation
  • Understanding of communications for projects or programmes of work

Salary range $114,663 - $127,404 (pro rata), actual salary dependent on skills and experience.
