Our Wellington Transport Operation Centre (WTOC) works behind the scenes to keep people and freight moving. They operate 24/7 to help manage the transport network in real-time, collaborating with many others including emergency services to respond to planned and unplanned events which can disrupt all modes of transport. The area of operation includes approximately 8000km of state highways from Turangi to Bluff.

We have an opportunity for a Real Time Operations Manager to join the WTOC leadership team. This is a busy and wide-ranging role where no two days are alike. You’ll be leading our operations teams, ensuring things run smoothly, and supporting them to safeguard the transport network and deliver safe and reliable journeys.
As part of the leadership team, you will be a key contributor to, or lead, projects for process improvement, and apply strategic thinking to align operations nationally.
WTOC is a 24/7 operation and while this role does not include shift work, there is an on-call component.

As our Real Time Operations Manager, you’ll be a confident self-starter, who thrives working in a dynamic environment. You’ll describe yourself as an authentic leader who is ‘hands on’ and people centric - passionate about developing your team and building great relationships.
Ideally you will also have:
- Solid experience gained in an operational environment
- Leadership and management experience, preferably in transport or similar operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sound relationship and stakeholder management knowledge and experience
- Good knowledge of operational process design and improvement, system implementation and technology
- Experience in creating and designing strategic responses in an evolving work environment
- Experience in the use of the Coordinated Incident Management System structure
- Excellent attention to detail

Appointment base salary is from $131,000 - $140,000 depending on relevant knowledge and experience. Along with our other benefits, we offer 5 weeks annual leave, and a Life, Income Protection and Critical-illness Insurance scheme available for all permanent employees.
