We're looking for a people first leader to take charge of our recruitment function at the Christchurch City Council.

Inspire and Lead
Guide and support a high-performing team of recruitment professionals, cultivating an environment of collaboration, achievement, and ongoing growth. -
Drive Talent Attraction and Selection
Lead the development and execution of innovative sourcing and selection strategies—enhancing our employer brand, attracting top-tier talent, and ensuring a seamless, effective hiring process. -
Collaborate with Stakeholders
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, aligning recruitment initiatives with broader business goals and offering strategic hiring insights. -
Elevate the Experience
Continuously refine recruitment tools and practices, ensuring an exceptional and seamless experience for candidates at every stage of the journey.
What you'll manage:
- Oversee recruitment systems, processes, and day-to-day operations, ensuring they reflect industry best practices and deliver consistent results.
- Manage key initiatives, vendor partnerships, and compliance requirements to support strategic hiring outcomes.
- Strengthen our employer brand and lead the creation of engaging digital strategies to attract top talent.
What you'll bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience within recruitment or broader HR functions, with a track record of leading high-performing teams.
- Strong expertise in recruitment best practices and a sound understanding of New Zealand employment legislation.
- A collaborative mindset and a values-led approach to people, service, and continuous improvement.

Additional information:
Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $115,466 to $128,295 per annum. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
