About the Role
As a Senior Advisor, you will provide consistent high-quality advice and support, oversight and direction as required on key work programmes. Join the Prevention Screening team within National Public Health Service, reporting to the Manager Systems and Quality Improvement Programmes, in this full time, permanent opportunity. For this role, you can be based anywhere in New Zealand.
Utilise your strong subject matter expertise, writing and relationship skills capable of leading a project of work. The primary purpose of the role is to:
- Have a continuous focus on systems thinking, quality assurance, quality improvement, monitoring, and reporting, to support the delivery of high-quality screening services
- Work closely with programme, clinical, internal and external stakeholders to contribute and lead pieces of work to deliver the workplan, as delegated by manager
- Support and lead adverse events management, complaints, learning reviews, and systems improvement in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Apply strong analytical skills to synthesise complex, evidence-based information and communicate clear, actionable insights – both writing and verbally – tailored to a range of audiences to support quality improvement

About you
As a Senior Advisor, you are confident working in a fast-paced environment and getting ‘stuck in' with a range of work. You have the ability to draw on relevant longer-term experience specific to the job and work demands. You have proven experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.
Essential:
- Relevant tertiary graduate qualification
- Qualification in quality improvement methodologies or quality in healthcare or significant experience in healthcare quality, systems thinking, and improvement
- Extensive senior-level experience in healthcare quality, including leading adverse events management, learning reviews, and related systems improvements with strong ability to provide sound evidence-based advice to senior leaders and providers
- Highly skilled in analysing and synthesising complex information, and communicating clear, actionable insights – both verbally and in writing – tailored to diverse audiences to influence improvement and strategic direction
- Experience leading quality improvement projects/initiatives and contributing to projects and initiatives across teams collaboratively
- Ability to draw on relevant experience specific to the job and work demands, acquired over time– 5 years or more
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
Desired:
- Qualification and experience as a health care professional
- Experience in cancer screening services, antenatal and childhood screening will be highly regarded
- Relevant post-graduate qualification or training and experience
