About the Role
In this role of Senior Analyst, you will be able to contribute to transforming the future of health by working with the extraction, collation and distribution of data, insights, and information across Health New Zealand.
You will be responsible for using best practice methodologies to provide consistent and high-quality analytics, advice, oversight, and direction within the Quality, Safety & Risk Services, and wider stakeholders, including Parliament, the Ministry of Health and the media.
About the Team/Service/ Location
This role sits within the Health Analytics team, part of the Planning, Funding and Outcomes function, and is one of the teams across the Northern region, working together as part of a wider regional team, and national team. Our team plays a critical role in delivering data-driven insights that support equitable, effective health services across Aotearoa.
The position is based at Te Toka Tumai, located centrally at Grafton, with flexible working arrangements available.
About you
With a background in data and analytics, you will have been responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, forward-focused insights using best practice approaches and methods. You will be confident in taking charge of analytical reporting projects, owning the end-to-end development process, and working closely with stakeholders to understand needs, manage expectations, and deliver impactful solutions.
You will be committed to developing your analytical skills and working within a broader team to produce, present and interpret data sets and reporting outputs that support decision-makers. As a senior, you will actively support and mentor other team members, sharing your knowledge to help build capability across the team.
Ideally, you will have strong experience in leading and delivering reporting projects, from data extraction and transformation through to measures design, development, and presentation. You will be highly skilled with business intelligence tools such as SQL, Power BI, and Snowflake.
You will have:
- A relevant graduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience
- Knowledge of health service datasets
- Advanced analytical capabilities
- Significant experience in data extraction and reporting
- Demonstrated skills and experience with analytical software tools
- Strong experience with Power BI is desired
- Experience mentoring/coaching others
