About the role
We are seeking a data analyst who wants to go on a journey to support our Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, supporting our data engineer to build and maintain our data infrastructure and the flow of data through our systems to our business intelligence environment.
As a data analyst you will have an understanding of management, analysis and visualisation of data and be prepared to support the team to deliver its products. As a developing data engineer you will have some skills and the ability to learn how to maintain our data pipelines.
About you
We are looking for an experienced data analyst who is looking to build their developer skills to help maintain our data infrastructure:
- Experience in data analysis, data management, and visualisation
- Ability to provide high quality data analysis and advice
- Understanding of data pipeline concepts and ETL processes, ideally with some exposure to cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Experience, or an aptitude to learn:
- BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- SQL and data querying tools.
- programming skills in Python and R.
- cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement capability.
- Detail orientated with a focus on quality
- Knowledge of te ao Maori, tikanga and kawa and/or be open to developing a sound understanding of the implications of Te Tiriti on today's society and public service.
- A commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace
- Ability to meet the criteria required to hold a NZ Government security clearance at the level assigned for the position.
- Build data analytical products to support our clients and colleagues
- Responding to data requests (including OIAs)
- Maintains and enhances data pipelines and systems to support operational functions, including monitoring and managing ETL pipelines into the data warehouse and integration with business intelligence tools

To be successful in this role you will be highly skilled data analyst with a willingness to learn and grow into a data engineering role. You will have the ability to work collaboratively within a high performing team, with a focus on supporting our stakeholders. This role will give you a unique insight into how the public service operates and performs.

The Data Team sits with Strategy, Policy and Integrity Group as the data steward for the Commission. Building and maintaining our data assets, as well as providing analytics and insights to support the Commission in all that it delivers.

Remuneration
The full range for the Analyst band is $80,495 -106,758. We typically look to appoint to role between $80,495- $98,718, depending on skills and experience.
The full range for Senior Analyst the band is $107,146 - 143,313. We typically look to appoint to role between $107146 - 130,507, depending on skills and experience.
