We’re on the hunt for a talented Senior Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team in Auckland. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll be shaping the way we use data across the AA – from building infrastructure and scalable pipelines, to mentoring other data engineers, to advising on the latest cloud technologies.
You’ll play a key part in developing clean, efficient, future-proof data models that power our digital platforms and analytics, helping the AA deliver exceptional experiences for our Members.
What You'll Be Doing | Mō te Tūranga
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures using SQL, Snowflake, DBT, AWS and cloud technologies
- Provide coaching and peer reviews to data engineers, ensuring high standards and best practice
- Partner with business and technology teams to translate requirements into sustainable data solutions
- Lead data design for transformation, orchestration, metadata and workload management
- Evaluate and implement solutions for scalability, security, performance and reliability
- Support Master Data Management, Data Quality and Metadata Management processes
- Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and act as an advisor on best-fit solutions
About You | Mōu
- 5–10 years’ experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong SQL expertise and experience working with large-scale databases
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, DBT Cloud, Airflow, AWS Cloud Services (plus exposure to Azure/Google Cloud)
- Proven skills in schema design, data modelling, ETL/ELT, and distributed architectures
- Python development experience
- A relevant degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems or a related field
- Experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI is an advantage
