ZIWI’s global growth has led to an exciting opportunity to establish our first in-house Senior Legal Counsel. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), we are seeking an experienced, savvy, results focused and commercially minded lead to join the team.
We are not just looking for another lawyer, we are after a real team player, who is an expert at building relationships, can decode risk and help us navigate complex global legal landscapes, while making sure ZIWI can move with speed. You will be the master-of-building effective relationships across the team, championing legal best practices and guiding, educating and empowering our teams to think smart about risk.
You will be the ‘go to’ legal advisor to the Executive Director and wider ELT and be pro-level at drafting, negotiating and closing contracts that support our business goals. You will keep us safe and ahead of the curve on legal, compliance and regulatory issues. This role is pivotal in shaping a scalable, strategic legal function that empowers decision-making and protects our premium global brand.
What we are looking for:
- 10+ years PQE, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house experience
- Strong generalist commercial and corporate legal skills
- Experience working across international jurisdictions and cross-border contracts
- Excellent judgment, pragmatism, and calm under pressure
- Sector experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or exporting is a plus
- Understanding of IP, privacy, and food or animal health regulations is advantageous
- Collaborative; comfortable working independently and building from the ground up
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence with digital systems.
