About the Role
The Senior Legal Counsel – Property & Infrastructure is part of the Health New Zealand legal team which has a nationwide focus. We are a collaborative, collegial team united by a commitment to support quality health services and outcomes for all New Zealand's populations.
The Property and Infrastructure team supports in particular the Infrastructure and Investment Group, and regional teams leading or managing property, leasing, land and construction projects.
About the Service
The Senior Legal Counsel – Property & Infrastructure is part of the Health New Zealand legal team. We have offices across New Zealand, supporting the operational work of our hospitals and community services. We are a collaborative, collegial and empathetic team united by a commitment to support quality health services and outcomes for all New Zealand's populations.
Our work is broad-ranging and critically important including work on significant and often novel public law, regulatory, medico-legal and privacy issues, and major procurement, commercial, construction, property, and litigation matters. This work is fundamental to achieving the kaupapa of our organisation.
About you
You will bring at least six years of post-qualification experience, ideally in property and/or construction law. This role suits someone who builds and values relationships, enjoys a challenge, takes the initiative, and delivers the best outcomes for the project and the organisation.
Strong communication skills, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to provide both reactive and proactive advice to a diverse range of clients in a fast-paced environment are essential for success. A willingness to learn, build on your skills, and take the lead on projects and tasks is key.
Outstanding relationship skills and the ability to navigate complex problems and issues will set you apart in this role.
You will bring
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
