Fonterra’s Group strategy function is the custodian of Co-op strategy and plays a pivotal role in setting direction, ensuring plans are integrated, and orchestrating key elements of the annual corporate planning cycle. The objective is to deliver sustained value for Fonterra’s shareholders.
An effective Group strategy function requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of the macro environment, structured, high integrity stakeholder influencing, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans that create measurable impact.

As a Strategy Manager, you will be at the heart of Fonterra’s strategic decision-making, working on high-profile topics that influence the direction of our business. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead, coordinate, and champion key elements of our corporate planning cycle while partnering closely with senior leaders across the Co-operative. You’ll be instrumental in translating strategy into actionable plans, brokering strategic trade-offs, and ensuring alignment across critical areas such as milk allocation, innovation, capital, and technology.

- Scope and run targeted engagements to close strategic gaps and solve complex business challenges.
- Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure strategy is translated into execution.
- Identify, frame, and champion key strategic issues and opportunities, leveraging internal and external information to generate actionable insights.
- Quantitative modelling, financial and other types of analysis as required
- Prepare for and run high-profile events, including Fonterra’s annual FMT offsite, Board strategy day, and Senior Leaders forum.
- Draft and present high-quality Board papers, as well as executive-level PowerPoint presentations. Upskill junior team members and other parts of the organisation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Leverage technology, including AI, to enhance productivity and drive innovation.

- In addition to holding a relevant tertiary qualification, you will bring experience in strategic development and execution across large complex organisations, gained from a top-tier management consulting environment.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organisation.
- Strong understanding of core strategy concepts (competitive advantage, value creation etc)
- Strong powerpoint, quantitative and financial modelling skills
- Comfort with ambiguity, drive and skills to resolve via a structured approach to problem solving
