Te Tūranga - The Role:

Our Engineering Team is working on flood risk reduction activities…and we need your help!

We need someone to help us with the:


  • Digitising of previous flood extents.
  • Investigation, analysis and reporting on a range of flooding events.
  • Review and refinement of existing flood management provisions.
  • Geotechnical investigations support (hand augers and SPT’s).
  • Piezometer sampling support.

You’ll be joining the Integrated Catchments Engineering Team who are responsible for coordinating flood management activities, planning for and constructing risk reduction infrastructure in river scheme areas.

Ngā Pūkenga, ngā wheako - Your Skills & Experience:

Ideal applicants for this role should:

  • Be currently enrolled in, or intending to commence, an Engineering qualification at a tertiary institution, with a focus on one of the following disciplines: Civil, Environmental, or Natural Resources.
  • Have a minimum of secondary education up to Year 13 (NCEA Level 3).
  • Hold a current driver's licence.
  • Have excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to share information and assist others.
  • Sound computer skills including experience in Microsoft word, excel and database entering.

This position will be located in Whakatāne.
