A recent consent to develop the previous Martha mine has provided our project with an extension of life providing our 350 staff and contractors, and the people of Waihi, an assurance that we plan to be here for the long-term.
Job Description
Bring your technical experience to facilitate delivery of IT support to Waihi-based OceanaGold IT users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first point-of-contact IT support functions for Waihi IT, including in-person, phone, email, and Instant Messaging support for site employees.
- Complete initial computer hardware setup for new devices, including deployment to the user.
- Provide cover for the other site IT roles during their leave periods.
- Facilitate day-to-day IT purchasing functions.
- Assistance with more complex IT projects/fixes, as directed by other members of the IT team.
- Look for potential unreported IT issues and create tickets to report these if necessary.
- Manage the Waihi IT unassigned work queue, resolving tickets as able, or assigning to other members of the IT team as appropriate.
- Assist with keeping the Waihi computer hardware fleet up-to-date by identifying computers in need of maintenance or replacement.
- Assist with installing and updating software on user computers.
- Assist with identifying and resolving IT infrastructure and server maintenance issues.
- Note that there is on-call element with this role (1 week out of 3).
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years in an IT service desk (or similar) role.
- Experience working within an IT support team.
- Cisco competency (Cisco Certified Network Associate - CCNA).
- Current MS Server qualification.
- Full Drivers Licence – ability to drive manual vehicles is essential.
- Preferable: Confined spaces and working from heights certifications.
- Preferable: Bachelor’s degree in IT or a similar qualification (Advanced certificate at a minimum).
Other:
- Ability to operate in confined spaces due to a requirement to sometimes work in an underground mining environment.
- Ability to work from heights.
